June 2008

Today marks one year since a handful of us nervously met at Montana’s Cookhouse in south Whitby for our first ever Durham Mom’s Night Out.

Since then, we’ve tried yoga, read fabulous books, made asses of ourselves at mini golf, and consumed a whole lotta tea — all with unforgettable chats. Who knew one night out each week without the baby and significant other could be so much damn fun?

(OK, we all know that.)

So glad to know all of you, and thanks for helping to make this such a special group.

Y’all know Jen is on maternity leave now (not that she’s HAD the baby yet, but she’s sticking close to home now), and this coming Wednesday is our one-and-only family vacation to the family cottage.

So, you’ll be on your own, for the first time ever, I think. Kinda neat that either one of us has been there every single Wednesday for the past year we’ve met.

Keep your eyes on your email, as I’ll send out a place to meet for tea.

Beautiful hot sun = burgers and ice cream, and there’s no better place to get it than Lick’s.

Haven’t been there before? Ooooh, baby. You’ll love it. Lots of inexpensive but delicious items to choose from, including the world famous Home and Nature burgers and giant ice cream menu. I think tea/coffee is available, too.

We’re meeting this Wednesday at the Whitby location, 1111 Dundas St., 8 p.m.

There’s some rumour that the store might still be closed (the Lick’s website says it reopened April 16), and I’ve no way to check being all up in The Boonies. So if you show up and it’s closed, we’re heading to the Second Cup just down the road at Thickson.
