September 2007

Have you started reading September’s Book Club selection yet?  We’re reading A Girl Named Zippy by Haven Kimmel.

Without giving anything away, I have to say that this is one of the funniest books I’ve read in a long time.  I read it at the library that’s right beside my work and I literally have to stiffle my laughs.  If I didn’t, I would be gaffawing and get kicked out.

If you haven’t started yet it’s a short, easy read so there is plenty of time to pick one up at Chapters and have it read for next Wednesday.  I only have a few pages left and, so far, I would highly recommend it.

I’ll be sending an evite soon for next week, so keep a look out.  If you aren’t on the evite mailing list, and would like to be, please email us at durhammoms@gmail.com.

* Update – Book Club will be at JP Fitzpatrick in the AMC Entertainment Centrum in Whitby at 8pm this Wednesday.

We’re checking out a new place tonight, hitting up Sassy’s in central Whitby for a tea and chat.

I’ve had their pizzas before, and they’re great. Looking forward to it — and meeting a few new members and reconnecting with some who are returning.

See you tonight!

After writing off scrapbooking due to lack of locale, we’re tickled to have hooked up with JC’s Scrapbook Studio in Ajax (thanks, Heidi!).

Owner Sue is going to host us Wed. Nov. 14 and Wed. Dec. 12 from 8-10:30. Price is $5/person, and she’s going to keep the store open if anyone needs supplies or isn’t into scrapbooking and wants to see what it’s all about.

If you just aren’t a scrapbooking kinda gal, you are still more than welcome to come along for snacks n’ chat, and bring any other project you’re working on (Carolyn, for example, doesn’t scrapbook, but will bring her knitting).

And Cheryl is looking into booking us a fun little girl’s night at her place hosting a Fantasia party. Cue giggles and dirty little secrets…

Will let you know when that gets booked.

See you all soon!
